This invitational show featured the human figure as seen from several angles by several Arkansas artists. My painting, The Red Cloud and four other smaller works were included.

This was a great exhibition of works on paper from the collection of Jackye and Curtis Finch, Jr., which included my drawings "A Man Pissing," 2001, and "Eye & Headlights," 1987, as well as works by Will Barnet, Alfred Leslie, John Wilde, Robert Arneson and others.

Connecticut Graphic Arts Center, Norwalk, CT
 This exhibition invites artists from all over the world to create prints in a four square inch format. My linocut "Dawn" (right) was awarded a purchase prize and will become part of CGAC's permanent collection. Andrew Stasik was the juror. Click here to see more miniprints by Criswell.

Myth, Memory and Imagination, an exhibition of works drawn from the Collection of Julia J. Norrell, which opened October 15, 1999 at McKissick Museum, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, and was shown at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock from January 26 to March 18, 2001, includes two of Judy's many works by Warren Criswell, The Storm, 1992, and View From Ward Motel, 1983. The exhibition was shown at the North Dakota Museum of Art in 2001 and the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art in 2002.

 Incubus, Warren's ripoff of Fuseli's The Nightmare, was included in the exhibition Appropriation: Art About Art, 1999, in Gallery 1, Fine Arts Building,University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

 This painting, Therapy I: The Voyeur, received a Delta Award in The 42nd Delta Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture at the Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock, Arkansas, July through September, 1999.

This drawing received the Juror's Award in the 25th Prints, Drawings and Photographs Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center through June 20, 1999. The juror for the competition was art historian Nannete V. Maciejunes, Senior Curator of The Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, Ohio. She is a scholar of Charles Burchfield, George Bellows, Alice Schille and others.

 This painting, The Red Cloud, (see detail) was included in
the 41st Delta Exhibition of Painting & Sculpture
at the Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1998, but got only a lousy Honorable Mention by juror Peter Frank, editor of Visions art quarterly and art critic for the Los Angeles Weekly.

 

Golden Apples, 1997, Warren's perverse revision of Botticelli's Birth of Venus, was
included in the exhibition

“Body and Soul: Contemporary Southern Figures,”
organized by The Columbus Museum, Columbus, Georgia. The show toured four museums in 1997 & 1998:
The Columbus Museum,
The Mobile Museum of Art, Mobile, Alabama,
The Mississippi Museum of Art, Jackson, Mississippi, and
The Cummer Museum of Art, Jacksonville, Florida.

 
 The Navigator, 1987, and The Open Road, 1988, both of which are part of the Arkansas Arts Center Foundation's internationally recognized permanent collection of works on paper, were included in a show called "Trains, Planes and Automobiles," at the Arkansas Arts Center in August and September 1997. This exhibition has been reorganized for a 3 -year tour of Arkansas schools and other locations, beginning in 1998.
