| These
monotypes were the first I had done in about 10 years. My inspiration
in this medium comes from the great monotypes of Giovanni Benedetto
Castiglioni, Degas and William Merrit Chase. Like them, I use
a basically subtractive method, meaning that the plate is rolled
up with printer's ink and the design wiped and scraped out with
rags, sticks, fingers, whatever. These were done on linoleum
(instead of the copper or plexiglass I used 10 years ago) and
printed on my etching press. The ones on this page were all done
in 2000; for some newer ones done in 2002 check the next page. |
